Zeidust
Zeidust was a nick name that eventually stuck with me since the day I created it. Pronounced "ZaayDust", It has become a permanent Pen name for my art.
So what brought me to this point, of creating a page here on Comicspace.com? Like many of us, I fell in love with Comics very early on. I still remember my first comic book. It was X Factor issue 07. At 10 years old, the art of balancing my obsession with animation, versus my LOVE of Comics, was not as hard as it sounds. I adored Anime since 1981, and Spent the next twenty years being influenced by it. But Marvel also posed a huge influence on me as well, up until Epic changed all that by releasing AKIRA to American readers. And with the rise of Viz Comics, and Animerica, It wasn't very long before my style influence shifted from Jim Lee, to Haruhiko Mikimoto. During Highschool, I was one of only a few people who were into Japanimation in my school (no one seemed to be into comics either, during that time). In fact it wouldn't be till I went to Art School that I would find more like myself. As my art became better, and more refined, the more i desired to have my own style. That has always been a focus on my artwork. To mimic an already established artists style I felt was amateur to say the least. And it has change over the years, as I keep my art under tight criticism. So at best I try very hard to just hide my influences. As for my choice in content. There is a common theme in my stories, and worlds that I attempt to tame in my imagination. My understanding of esoteric knowledge, the fascination with very old mythology, the enduring commonality in Spirituality, and belief in the occult have for the most part, filled my sketch books for years. I also heavially influenced by music. My interest in Genre's like Shoegaze, Dreampop, and Space rock have given me plenty of ample soundtracks to the whole feel of my artwork. However, as much as I love sequential art, I tend to have a lack of drawing the whole thing without a deadline from an outside source. So I have stuck myself in roundabouts looking for ways around roadblocks keeping me from gaining a good pace at making all this stuff. So I came here to try and find other artists. I have amassed plenty of friends, but really only a handful really draw, and only one other has any interest in doing comics. Perhaps a team, or group of others like myself to keep each other inspired may help bring Ohio on the map as a source of awsome talent. So I look forward to making new friends on here. I am eager to enter this Comic Collective. - Zei |
